  • The table compares how much people have to pay for their minimum daily water needs in five countries. It also shows what percentage of the average daily wage each location represents.
  • First of all, we can see that Tanzania and Uganda have the highest daily cost of water, while the United Kingdom and the United States have the lowest. This means, for example, that Tanzanians pay 6.4 cents, while Americans pay only 0.85 cents for the same amount of water.
  • These differences are even greater when we consider the percentage of the average daily wage this cost represents. In both Tanzania and Uganda, the cost is significant, accounting for 5.7% and 3.2%, respectively. However, in the UK and US, the cost is only a fraction of the daily wage at 0.013% and 0.006%. And although the daily cost of water in Pakistan is similar to that of the UK, it represents up to 1.1% of the daily wage.
  • In general, the table shows that there are significant differences between the cost of water in developing countries and the industrialized West.

The table shows some information about the consuming water cost per each person for five countries from different continents of the world. Table is provided in terms of daily cost per person in US dollar and the cost proportionate to the average daily wage in each country. The data could be divided in two main groups in the cost point of view. Tanzania, Uganda, and Pakistan having the highest cost of minimum daily water requirements. Furthermore, in these countries, as the data is shown, the daily cost per person is higher than the other group. This parameter is approximately one and a half of UK’s cost for Pakistan, about three times greater for Uganda, and nearly four times larger for Tanzania. The smallest quantity for the daily cost is related to the US and it is precisely 0.85 cents. Moreover, the cost in the aspect of daily wage for the United States is 0.006%, which indicates the cheapest cost in the countries of this table. All things considered, it could be concluded that, the
